Why is strength training important?
Physical activity, exercise, and movement are so important to a healthy lifestyle and for ongoing wellness throughout the lifespan. Based on current recommendations from the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Heart Association, adults should get at least 150 minutes per week of moderate aerobic exercise, and 2 days per week of strengthening activities. This is the standard for adults that are considered healthy as well as a goal for people with cardiovascular and metabolic disease. Resistance training has positive effects for every system in the body, including improved physical performance, movement coordination, walking speed, cognitive capacity, as well as self-esteem and attitude! Within 10 weeks of consistent participation there are clinically measurable changes in muscle mass gains, reduced blood pressure and low-density cholesterol, and improved bone mineral density. These effects compound over time, improving overall wellness and independence with age.

Who is this for?
Anyone looking to build strength in a safe, supportive, and intentionally guided environment. Whether you’re new to strength training or returning after time away, we’ll meet you where you’re at.
How do I get started?
You’ve already completed your intro session—awesome! From here, you can choose between:
- Joining a small group
- Booking 1:1 personal training
- Or doing a mix of both!
What happens if I miss a session?
Life happens—we get it! If you need to miss a session, just give us a heads-up via text/call at 401-535-6500, and we’ll do our best to help you make it up (pending space availability). If you are on a weekly Strength membership, you will still be charged even if you cannot attend an alternate session (pending space availability). This ensures your spot is reserved in our small group classes for subsequent weeks.
Do I need to be a yoga member to join the gym?
Nope! Strength training is open to everyone. But if you are a yoga member, you get access to discounted rate for small group strength training.
What equipment do I need?
Come as you are, we have all the props! We do recommend comfortable clothing you can move in, and a water bottle for hydration. Specifically on the reformer we request bare feet or grip socks for safety and for the best interaction with this machine. Otherwise, we have a variety of weights, equipment, and tools available for you and your trainer to utilize in the gym.
Can I drop in anytime?
Unlike other gyms, we’re not an open-access facility where you come in and do your own thing. This is for the safety of all of our community members and teammates.
